Complete Storyline and information about Titane
After a serious accident, plates made of titanium are implanted in the head of young Alexia. In the end, only scars above her ear remain, which she is able to hide under slowly growing back hair. Nevertheless, something has fundamentally changed: Because when Alexia leaves the hospital again, she does not fall into her parents’ arms, but gives her affection to an ambulance car – from then on she feels a physical-sensual love for vehicles.
Many years later, Alexia therefore works as an erotic dancer of a car show. She radically kills people who get in her way or approach her, which at some point is no longer hidden from law enforcement. When Alexia makes her escape, she slips into a new identity to do so: that of Adrien. The son of the high-ranking fireman Vincent (Vincent Lindon) disappeared without a trace ten years ago. The father accepts his “return” without question and also forbids his squad to question the miraculous reappearance.
Background & info on Titane
Titane won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021: the Palme d’Or. This was only the second time the award for best film had gone to a woman, after Jane Campion won it in 1993 for The Piano: to Julia Ducournau. It was also the first solo win by a woman.
Julia Ducournau’s win was also special because Titane was only the second feature film the director had ever directed. She had already caused a stir with her debut feature Raw in 2016, as her debut about cannibalism made headlines for, among other things, causing several viewers to pass out while watching disturbing scenes.
