Complete plot and information about The Suicide Squad.
Belle Reve is the prison with the worst reputation … and the highest mortality rate, not least because the biggest villains and bad guys are imprisoned here. To leave this place, many an inmate would do anything – including joining the mysterious Task Force X, which is looking for members for a breakneck mission.
The mission, with great suicide potential, is to go to the island of Corte Maltese. While populated by violent guerrillas and other enemies, it’s also home to something Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) is determined to get her hands on. Even if it has to do with aliens and Nazis.
The fresh corpses aren’t long in coming as Rick Flagg’s (Joel Kinnaman) loopy squad sets out. Joining them are Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior), Savant (Michael Rooker), King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), Javelin (Flula Borg), Blackguard (Pete Davidson) and, of course, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).
Background & Info on The Suicide Squad
While The Suicide Squad follows on from the superhero (or villain) film Suicide Squad, which David Ayer brought to theaters in 2016, it is said to tell a new story with a new team. To make the confusion complete, however, familiar faces still returned in their old roles for the new Suicide Squad (only real with “The” in the title), namely Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney.
Directing the second live-action adaptation of the DC comics was Marvel defector James Gunn, who had already brought a very colorful, very wacky troupe into the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy. Prior to Gunn, Mel Gibson had been courted as director for a while. (ES]
