Complete plot and information about The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Supernatural investigator duo Ed (Ed Warren) and Lorraine Warren (Lorraine Warren) have faced quite a few things in the course of their extraordinary work, but their latest case is a murder so hair-raising that even the most hardened investigators of the paranormal will have their hair stand on end at so much wickedness.

It’s also a case that puts not only her, but also the murder suspect, in the public eye. For while they fight for the soul of little David (Julian Hilliard), the arrested Arne (Ruairi O’Connor), who is said to be responsible for the bloody deed, is put on trial – and there, for the first time in the history of U.S. jurisprudence, puts forward a demonic possession as a defense for his deed.

Background The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

The real-life basis for the 3rd Conjuring film is the court case of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, which also became known as the “Devil Made Me Do It” case (this is also the additional English title in the original). After the murder of his landlord Alan Bono, the defense pleaded that Johnson had been possessed by a demon and was therefore not responsible for his actions. Host for the demon had been 11-year-old David Glatzel. On November 24, 1981, Johnson was convicted of manslaughter in Brookfield, Connecticut.

The Conjuring 3 was the first film in the main series not directed by James Wan. In addition to Conjuring (2013) and Conjuring 2 (2016), the Conjuring universe also includes the spin-off films Annabelle (2014), Annabelle 2: Creation (2017) and Annabelle 3 (2019), as well as The Nun (2018), Llorona’s Curse (2019) and The Crooked Man, which will not be released until after Conjuring 3. Conjuring 3 had actually been scheduled to hit theaters in the fall of 2020. In the wake of the Corona pandemic, however, the release was delayed and finally celebrated its launch in the U.S. simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max. (ES.)
