Complete Storyline and information about The 355
US agent Mason “Mace” Brown (Jessica Chastain) is the wild card of the CIA. In this respect, it is natural to send her on a dangerous mission to recover a top-secret new weapon stolen by mercenaries.
To get it back, however, Mace needs support, so she assembles a team of female agents willing to cross borders to take on a common enemy and prevent the Third World War that an unknown organization could start.
Mace is joined by tough German agent Marie (Diane Kruger) on the team called 355, as well as British computer specialist Khadijah (Lupita Nyong’o) in MI6 and gifted Colombian psychologist Graciela (Penélope Cruz). And who is the mysterious Chinese woman (Lin Mi Sheng) who always seems to be one step ahead of them?
Their journey around the world takes them from Parisian cafés to Morocco’s markets and glitzy parties in Shanghai. Time and again, the women must prove their loyalty to each other and risk their own necks to protect the planet.
Background & Info on The 355
Number 355 was the code name for the first documented (but never publicly identified) female spy used by George Washington in the American Revolution (1765-1783). Jessica Chastain had pitched the idea of a female spy movie à la James Bond and Mission: Impossible to director Simon Kinberg when the two were shooting X-Men: Dark Phoenix together.
Marion Cotillard was originally cast as one of the five main characters, but left the film for personal reasons. (ES)
