Complete Storyline and information about Jungle Cruise
In the early 20th century, Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) is on hand as a riverboat captain for anyone who wants to venture up Amazon. That’s exactly what eccentric scientist Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) has in mind with her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall), so they hire the seasoned adventurer with his steamboat.
Lily’s declared goal is to find and study the legendary Tree of Life. It is said to possess enormous healing powers and would change medicine forever. But they are not the only ones in search of the extraordinary plant: The deadly soldier Aguirre (Édgar Ramírez) is also leading a rival expedition into the jungle, and the militaristic German aristocrat Prince Joachim (Jesse Plemons) has his eye on the tree. And as if that weren’t enough danger, wild animals, waterfalls and supernatural threats await the travelers along the route.
Background & info on Jungle Cruise
For Jungle Cruise, Disney Studios chose an attraction from their theme park as the starting point for an adventure film, as they did for Pirates of the Caribbean. The ride is a small boat that sails visitors down a river through a jungle filled with reptiles and other dangerous animals. Even some elements of the ride, such as the “back of the water,” were picked up for the film adaptation.
The lead role in Jungle Cruise was played by Dwayne Johnson, an actor who had already dabbled in a jungle setting shortly before in the Jumanji remake. Flicks such as African Queen (1951) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) were cited as film models. (ES)
