Complete plot and information about Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Callie (Carrie Coon) moves to Oklahoma with her two children Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) to the sleepy town of Summerville because she has inherited a property here: an old farm. But shortly after their arrival, the family discovers that the town is not as boring as they thought at the beginning: the earth repeatedly shakes, which should be impossible here.

The supernatural occurrences begin to accumulate and soon the children discover that their family has a very special connection to the so-called Ghostbusters, who over 30 years ago as ghost chamber hunters ensured law and order. All has been quiet since then, but now something spooky seems to have reawakened. But can the youngsters live up to the secret spiritual legacy their ancestor left them?

Background & Info on Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) is responsible for directing the new Ghostbusters film, and he also co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan (Poltergeist remake). Reitman’s father Ivan, who directed the two original Ghostbusters flicks (Ghostbusters – The Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2) from 1984 and 1989, produced the film.

Unlike Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot Ghostbusters (2016) starring the female ghost hunters led by Kate McKinnon, Kristin Wiig, Leslie Jones and Melissa McCarthy, the new spin-off of the franchise is set in the world of the originals.

When Finn Wolfhard, who had previously worn the Ghostbusters uniform as a Halloween disguise for his role in Stranger Things, auditioned for his role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, he didn’t know what the film was yet because the project was kept secret and traded under the working title Rust City.
