Complete plot and information about Flag Day
A father (Sean Penn) doesn’t see many ways to make a living for himself and his daughter (Dylan Penn). Therefore, he embarks on a criminal career, robbing banks and becoming a talented money forger.
Background & Info on Flag Day
Flag Day was based on the book Flim-Flam Man: The True Story of My Father’s Counterfeit Life by Jennifer Vogel, in which the American author retold her true family story in 2003. For her account, which is also a portrait of her father, she described her own experiences during her childhood and also later when the police hunted down her father. John Vogel was arrested in 1995, escaped again, and by that time had single-handedly counterfeited nearly $20 million, which at the time was the fourth largest amount of counterfeit money ever confiscated by the FBI.
Actress Dylan Penn is the daughter of Sean Penn and Robin Wright and first appeared in front of the camera with her father for Flag Day. Sean Penn also eventually took over directing duties on the father-daughter drama, previously held by Alejandro González Iñárritu. (ES)
