Complete storyline and information about Firestarter

Young parents Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon) McGee have been on the run for years. They desperately try to protect their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), because the girl has an inexplicable pyrokinetic ability: she can make objects catch fire just by her thoughts. A sinister government organization has gotten wind of this and wants to research the gift and harness it for themselves. The possibilities of using the flaming power in connection with weapons of mass destruction would be enormous.

Andy has taught his daughter to keep her gift under control, which flares up (quite literally) whenever the girl is in pain or angry. But as Charlie turns eleven and heads toward puberty, it becomes increasingly difficult to suppress her fire. After an accident accidentally reveals her whereabouts, a mysterious agent (Michael Greyeyes) latches onto her heels, intent on capturing Charlie for good. But the girl has other plans.

Background & Info on Firestarter

Firestarter is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, which the famous US horror author published in 1980. The book was already adapted as a film in 1984 by Mark L. Lester under the title The Firestarter starring Drew Barrymore. In 2002, a second part followed with Firebug – The Return, but with a new cast.

Originally, Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) was slated to direct the Firestarter remake when the project was announced in 2017. In 2018, the filmmaker was replaced by Fatih Akin (Tschick), who was in turn replaced by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) in 2019. Filming took place in Canada (Toronto and Ontario) in the summer of 2021.

The music to Firestarter contributed horror legend John Carpenter, who collaborated for this with his son Cody Carpenter as well as Daniel Davies. (ES)
