Complete plot and information about Antlers
Julia Meadows (Keri Russell) lives in a small town in the US state of Oregon and teaches elementary school students there as a teacher. Her brother Paul (Jesse Plemons) works as a sheriff in the same town. It’s actually quiet here most of the time, but a boy in her class, Lucas Weaver (Jeremy T. Thomas), worries Julia. He seems to be guarding a dark secret, but what the boy eventually lets slip really belongs in the realm of legends.
Gradually, however, Julia and Paul begin to believe that Lucas is in desperate need of protection, even though what threatens him seems to be beyond their imagination and, upon closer inspection, entails frightening consequences. For can the boy really secretly keep a supernatural creature in his home?
Background & Info on Antlers
Antlers is based on the short story The Quiet Boy by Nick Antosca, which was published in Guernica magazine in 2019. The author also co-wrote the screenplay himself for the adaptation to film.
Antlers was originally scheduled to hit theaters in the spring of 2020, but was repeatedly postponed to a later date in the wake of the Corona pandemic.
For director Scott Cooper, Antlers was the first film he shot digitally instead of using real film. For this, he brought cinematographer Masanobu Takayanagi back to his side, with whom he had already shot his first four films Crazy Heart (2009), Eye for an Eye (2013), Black Mass (2015) and Enemies – Hostiles (2017).
Actor Jesse Plemons played a sheriff in Antlers for the third time in his career following his appearances in Barry Seal – Only in America (2017) and Game Night (2018). (ES)
